"Tools to Engage" Join SHAPE America’s 2015 National Health Education Teacher of the Year Andy Horne and 2017 National Health Teacher of the Year Andy Milne as they share engaging tools, tips and tricks that have worked for them in their Health classes. Attendees of this unique and engaging presentation will hear how a lifelong appreciation of health behaviors can be instilled in students through a range of innovative activities, assessments and resources including an infamous Mr. H “Scholarly Rap”.
Other: All ideas shared can be easily adapted to best suit the needs of your students and can be implemented as soon as you return to the classroom. Attendees will be re-vitalized in their teaching as the two Andy’s share additional tips to develop yourself as a teacher. Desired outcomes include:
- Attendees will learn at least three innovative activities and assessments that can be adapted to the needs of their students.
- Attendees will learn how to creatively instill a lifelong appreciation of health behaviors in students.
- Attendees will learn different teaching strategies to engage various types of learners.
- Attendees will have a better understanding of how to incorporate National Health Education Standards into their teaching.
